So… therapy, huh?
A lot of people think of think of therapy as seeing the person in a suit, sitting in a stark office & getting asked repeatedly, “And how does that make you feel?”, all while they are writing on a clipboard and looking at you over their glasses.
That’s not what you will get at Voyager Counseling. If you are a teen, or a parent of a teen, get ready to think about therapy outside the stereotypical box.
«» Games? Check. «» Art Supplies? Check. «» Conversation cards to help jump start tough conversations? Check. «» Miniatures, cards, and more that we can use to illustrate what we’re talking about? Check. «» Cozy blankets, pillows, and stuffed things to cuddle when it gets tough? Check. «» Things you can throw at the wall when you need to let it all out? Check. «» A therapist who will never seriously ask you, “And how does that make you feel?” Double check. «»

What is Client-Centered?
It is *exactly* what it sounds like.
You – the client – are the center of therapy.
• Do you want to curl up on the couch and talk through things? We can do that.
• Do you want to color or draw or work on a puzzle while you process? We can do that, too.
• Curious about playing and processing? The toys & games aren’t just for the tiny humans – you can play too!
• Do you find prompts or handouts helpful?
We have those – lots of those – and I’ll make ones you need that I don’t have, just for you!
• Do you *hate* the idea of talking about your feelings? I have options for that too!
This space is about you, for you, and designed to help you feel comfortable and safe.
Extra things we can do…
Remember when I said I have options if you hate the idea of talking about feelings? We have all the options!
There are activities we can do where we explore your feelings, your traumas, and all the parts of yourself you’d rather not verbalize using imagery, art, sand tray, writing stories, and other creative methods – and then interpret them together!
We can also use Brainspotting, if you’re looking for a more “direct” route. Brainspotting is an amazing technique that can help to process some of your deepest emotions, traumas, and thoughts without ever having to say a word about them. We can also use it if you are experiencing feelings but not sure why and just need help moving them through your body.
